A Fond Farewell to “Fixer Upper”

You Guys!

It was just announced earlier today that the upcoming Season Five of HGTV’s show “Fixer Upper” will be their last. I am beyond heartbroken that my favourite design duo (and one of my relationship idols), Chip and Joanna Gaines are stopping their beyond-popular show. In a heart felt video posted on their blog, they explain they needed time to recharge, and to focus more attention on their businesses and on their family. You can’t really blame them for that. The Gaines’ have popularized the rustic/retro/shabby look I love so much, and have expanded my lust for decor and home improvement along the way. I will certainly be setting my PVR when Season Five starts, and watching each episode eagerly.

One thing that I love about Chip and Joanna’s business is that they make the home a welcoming spot for families – no matter what their size, style, or means. They re-use materials, locally source where possible, and incorporate all sorts of personal details and charm into each room they renovate. Those are all details that I think everyone can introduce into their own homes. Home should be somewhere that comforts you, and brings you joy – and I think that the designs by Magnolia Homes really achieve that in a timeless and charming way.

I’ve thrown together some photos of my favourite Fixer Upper rooms, in hopes that Fixer Upper will inspire you too! I have another post about Fixer Upper Style Inspiration you can also check out. Of course, you can also check out HGTV Canada’s Fixer Upper page for more articles, and full episodes here. (All images below are via HGTV Canada’s Fixer Upper page)

Chip & Jo, in the (very small) chance you’ll read this, thank you for sharing your lives, family, and style with the world. I’ll be keeping my eye out for what you’ll do next! (Oh, and help me pick out a siding colour for my house, please)

Hope you all have a great week!
